The Design Process

We are focused on elevating and celebrating the user experience in the spaces we build. We do this through integrating Nature and Structure into our Architectural design.
We begin each project with extensive research to build a thorough understanding of the social and environmental setting. These learnings provide a strong foundation over which we layer our sensitivity to context, material exploration most importantly orientation of built mass as per the climate and location.
Our designs consciously merge spaces with their surroundings and are strengthened by the three Fs - functionality, flow and flexibility.
We use advanced technology to inform our decisions throughout the project. Our digital 3d model simulates and analyses various parameters. For example, the amount of sunlight on the building facade is analysed and through design techniques we aim for sustainable solutions to reduce or gain heat. For our passive cooling strategies we take clues from the past and apply them in contemporary ways. We believe that courtyards are game changers in the tropics.
We also work a lot with physical models at every stage. Modelling runs through conceptual massing, 1:1 detailing and visualising the defining features. Physical and digital models inform each other enabling us to test new forms and volumes. They together allow us to truly connect with the spaces and scale of each project.
Developing innovative architectural and interior details, working with sustainable materials like Cowdung and Lime plaster, bringing Nature into the built space and heavy use of Indian craft and art in Architecture and Interior design are at the heart of the practice.
We believe that good design comes from balance: of sun and shade, open and enclosed, heavy and light.
